A clear choice between a steak box and freezer beef

When you are shopping for beef in Green Bay, decide whether you want selected cuts now or a varied supply tied to a harvest date. A steak box is designed around named steaks. A beef share involves custom cutting and a larger mix of beef. They solve different problems even when both come from the same farm.

Our Reserve Steak Box brings together 16 steaks: two filets, two boneless ribeyes, two bone-in ribeyes, two T-bones, four New York strips, and four sirloins. It is the focused choice when the cooking plan is steak dinners. The First Taste Sampler adds three pounds of ground beef to three different steaks for a smaller introduction.

For burgers, chili, tacos, and meat sauce, our single-source ground beef lets you buy a staple on its own. It is ground from one animal, dry-aged for 14 days, and packed in one-pound portions. See the live ground beef options for available sizes, instead of buying a mixed assortment just to obtain more ground beef.

Buying a quarter or half cow near Green Bay: compare the same weight

Beef-share pricing can be difficult to compare when one offer uses hanging weight and another lists packaged beef. Hanging weight is measured before the final cutting and trimming. Packaged weight describes what goes into your freezer. A lower advertised number per hanging pound is not automatically a lower cost per packaged pound.

Mundorf lists total share prices alongside approximate custom-cut quantities: about 100 pounds for a quarter, 200 for a half, and 400 for a whole. The comparison below shows those advertised totals separately from the nonrefundable reservation deposit. Ask about any delivery charges when comparing the complete purchase with another farm.

A useful comparison sheet has five lines: total beef cost, processing charges if separate, delivery or pickup expense, expected packaged weight, and the cuts you expect to use. Do not fill missing figures with assumptions. A quote is comparable only when you know what it includes.

If this is your first share, start with our quarter-cow price guide and quarter-versus-half guide. Use the live product page for the actual reservation amount and contact Jeff about fulfillment to your Green Bay address before committing.

CUSTOM-CUT BEEF SHARES

Compare quarter, half, and whole beef

Buying bulk beef for Green Bay? Compare the complete listed price with the amount due to reserve. These are approximate custom-cut quantities, not hanging-weight quotes. Delivery arrangements for shares must be confirmed with Jeff.

Listed beef prices checked September 17, 2026
Share Approx. beef Total price Deposit Planning cost/lb*
Quarter beef 100 lb $1,250 $500 $12.50
Half beef 200 lb $2,350 $800 $11.75
Whole beef 400 lb $4,697 $1,200 $11.74

*Illustrative calculation: total listed price divided by advertised approximate pounds. Actual cut yield varies. This is not a guaranteed per-pound quote and does not add any applicable shipping, delivery, or tax. Deposits are nonrefundable and count toward the listed total. Confirm current prices and availability on each product page.

A share is worth planning around the cuts you use, not just this arithmetic. Choose a quarter for a smaller custom supply, a half for a larger household or an agreed split, and a whole only when the storage, budget, and cooking plan support it. Explore our Iowa beef-share guide before reserving.

Plan the quantity for a gathering, then the leftovers

For a cookout or game-day meal at home, turn the menu into raw beef quantities before ordering. As a planning example, 12 burgers made with a quarter pound of raw ground beef each require three pounds total. If you make half-pound patties, the same 12 burgers require six pounds. Those calculations describe the patties, not a nutritional serving recommendation.

That distinction also helps when comparing boxes. The three pounds of ground beef in the sampler cover a particular ground-beef plan, while its steaks belong to separate meals. Do not count the steaks again as burger meat. A larger ground beef order makes more sense when the gathering centers on burgers or a batch recipe.

For a beef share, think beyond the first weekend. Separate fast-cooking cuts from roasts and other cuts you intend to cook slowly. Label a freezer inventory by package, and choose the next week's meals before pulling more food forward. Our quarter-share planning guide helps relate a large order to your usual cooking pattern.

Iowa-raised beef, delivered to Wisconsin

Mundorf is based near Red Oak, Iowa, with a family farming history dating to 1873. We are not a Green Bay storefront or a Wisconsin farm. Our cattle are pasture raised and grass fed, then grain finished with corn included in their diet. That is different from exclusively grass-finished beef and should be part of your comparison.

Our standard shipping policy covers the continental United States. Boxed orders leave Monday through Wednesday in insulated packaging with coolant, with most arriving one to three business days after shipment. Use your exact Green Bay, De Pere, or other Wisconsin address at checkout to see the applicable options; the policy is not a promise of a local same-day route.

Bulk shares follow a harvest and processing schedule. Jeff works with buyers on pickup or delivery, and the share listings describe readiness approximately 25 to 30 days after harvest. Confirm the arrangement for your address before paying a deposit. A game-day deadline or upcoming trip is worth mentioning before you place the order.

Green Bay beef delivery questions

Does Mundorf ship beef to Green Bay, Wisconsin?

Yes. Green Bay falls within the continental United States covered by our standard shipping policy. Choose a beef box online and check options for your address. For bulk beef, confirm the planned harvest date, readiness, and delivery or pickup arrangement with Jeff before reserving a share.

Is this beef raised in Wisconsin?

No. Mundorf Angus cattle are raised on our family farm near Red Oak, Iowa. Green Bay is a customer market we serve, not a farm or shop location. We keep that origin clear so you can compare an Iowa farm-direct shipment with a Wisconsin farm purchase.

Which box should I buy for grilling steaks?

The Dry-Aged Steak Box is our steak-focused option, with 16 steaks across six cuts. It includes filets, bone-in and boneless ribeyes, T-bones, New York strips, and sirloins. The $89 sampler is a smaller introduction with three steak cuts plus three pounds of ground beef.

Can I buy only ground beef for burgers?

Yes. Our Dry-Aged Ground Beef is sold separately in one-pound portions, with current pack sizes selected on the product page. It is single-source beef from one Angus animal and aged for 14 days. You do not have to buy a steak assortment or reserve a share.

How much ground beef do I need for 12 burgers?

At one-quarter pound of raw beef per patty, 12 burgers use three pounds. At one-half pound per patty, they use six pounds. This is straightforward menu-planning arithmetic; choose patty size and any extra portions for your group before deciding which ground beef quantity to order.

Can I reserve a quarter cow for Green Bay?

A Quarter Beef Share provides approximately 100 pounds of custom-cut beef for $1,250 total, with a $500 nonrefundable deposit. Availability follows the live listing. Before reserving, contact Jeff to agree on fulfillment for your Green Bay address and ask about any additional delivery costs.

Is hanging weight the same as freezer weight?

No. Hanging weight is measured before final cutting and trimming; packaged or take-home weight is the beef you receive. When comparing farms, put processing and delivery costs beside the expected packaged quantity. Mundorf share listings provide approximate custom-cut weights and a stated total price.

Is the $800 half-share price the total?

No. The $800 amount is the nonrefundable reservation deposit for a Half Beef Share. Its listed total is $2,350 for approximately 200 pounds of custom-cut beef. Review the product terms and confirm delivery costs so you compare the complete order, not just the amount due today.

Is your beef exclusively grass finished?

No. Our Angus cattle are pasture raised and grass fed, then grain finished, including corn. Dry aging is a separate part of processing: reserve steaks and shares are aged up to 21 days. We do not substitute grass-fed language for a clear description of the finishing diet.

Will my order arrive before a weekend gathering?

Check before relying on a specific date. Our policy says Monday-through-Wednesday dispatch and usually one to three business days in transit after shipment. That is not a guaranteed event-delivery promise. Tell us your deadline, and remember that a beef share follows a much longer harvest schedule.

Can I customize the steaks and roasts in a share?

Yes. We provide a cut sheet ahead of harvest and help you select the cuts and packaging that fit your kitchen. A share is limited by the cuts available from the animal, so discuss priorities rather than assuming every choice can be multiplied without affecting other cuts.

Is there a Green Bay pickup location?

We do not list a Mundorf retail pickup location in Green Bay on this page. Our farm is near Red Oak, Iowa. Boxed beef ships under our standard policy; beef-share pickup or delivery is arranged directly. Contact us before planning a local pickup or a trip to the farm.
